Patient Letter: "Grateful for help after stroke"

On Sept. 13, 2009, our family vacation detoured and was spent at Atlantic General Hospital in Ocean City, MD.  Dean, my husband, suffered a stroke the first night of vacation.  Our lives changed that day.

Our return to Pennsylvania and Dean's new home for a few months, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, was a relief, but at the same time we knew the journey to recovery had just begun.

Thanks to the incredible staff at HealthSouth, Dean was able to return home to us in November and was able to walk and care for himself with minimal assistance.  The thanks we owe to them cannot be expressed enough.  Dean still goes to therapy at HealthSouth and continues to improve day by day.  Again, thanks to the staff at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.

We cannot go without saying "thank you" to all our family members, neighbors and community for all the prayers, help and support we have received.

We also thank Dean's employer, Bimbo Bakeries, for their understanding and my co-workers at Crescent Industries for participating in the silent auction.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to you and yours.

A Treasure in York County, Patient Letter

Dear HealthSouth,
Since November 30, 2009, I have been an outpatient at the HealthSouth Rehab Center on Normandie Drive. This is my second stint at the Center (the result of major back surgery on 11-5-09), the first one in May 2006, because of knee replacement surgery! In each case, the treatment, the concern, compassion and expert rehabilitation techniques aided in my return to a normal and productive life allowing me to work, take care of my home and enjoy many activities, such as travel, walking, scenic drives, etc.

The staff in the Outpatient Center is truly an outstanding group of professionals! Christian is the consummate rehabilitation expert! His evaluating process of each patient is carefully documented so that all the therapists are aware of the patients needs to enable a full return to daily activities. The therapists continue to work with each patient in fulfilling the patient's goals! All of the staff members provide their expert knowledge as well as their positive attitude for their clients in hopes of positive outcomes!

This letter is written as a personal "thank you" to all the wonderful personnel you have in the Outpatient Center. Your Center is surely a treasure here in York County, not only for me, but for all those who are fortunate enough to be clients! All good wishes and continued success to the Center, its staff and its clients!

Most Sincerely,
Susan E. Gallion
